Located in the heart of Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the city of Harrisonburg is approximately 120 miles from Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA. The Breeze is hiring its 2026-27 Breeze TV Studio Director. The student selected for this position will help lead a broadcast news show that airs live. Position begins April 1, with training during the weeks immediately after spring break. Must be able to be back on campus two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
Duties And Responsibilities
In charge of all production staff and the coordination of staff during the newscast.
Trains the production crew throughout the week so they are prepared for live productions.
Coordinates who on the production crew works each position on a weekly basis.
Works with the production crew to ensure each is aware of what is happening within the newscast and their individual responsibilities.
Coordinates with the Executive Producer on what the show should look like for that week and figures out ways to make that vision happen.
Qualifications
Knowledge of what a newscast should look like.
Knowledge of all studio positions.
Ability to lead a team.
Ability to work through stressful situations.
Knows what is going on in the show for that week.
Ability to adapt on a moment's notice (either fix or work with mistakes during the show).
Ability to edit video and have existing knowledge of the software used.
Knows journalistic ethics.
Knowledgeable enough to guide and teach new members.
Additional Posting Information Students must be degree‑seeking students, enrolled on at least a half‑time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
