Senior Audio-Visual Engineer, 2210, GS-15 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Information Technology Infrastructure Division (ITID), Communication Services Unit (CSU) Huntsville, AL Opening Date: December 5, 2025 Closing Date: December 19, 2025 at 11:59 pm (ET) Position: Senior Audio-Visual Engineer, GS-15 (Official Title: IT Specialist) Full Performance Level: GS-15 Unit: Communication Services Unit (CSU) Working Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm (Flexible) Job Type: Full Time/Permanent Who May Apply: All U.S. Citizens Position Overview The FBI’s ITID is seeking a highly qualified Senior Audio-Visual Engineer to maintain secure, reliable, and state‑of‑the‑art audiovisual engineering solutions. The role requires leading planning, engineering, stakeholder management, policy interpretation, and oversight for diverse communication services, including Voice, Video, Telephony, Media, Entertainment, and interactive services across all classification levels. Key Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance Major Duties Lead all efforts related to planning, engineering, stakeholder management, policy interpretation and development, oversight, compliance, accountability, metric development, documentation, and reporting for diverse communication services. Act as FBI expert in all matters relating to Communication Services and provide Telephony, IT, and IS expertise to Executive Management and Senior Leadership. Establish and maintain FBI standards for Communication technical architectures, data architecture management, software design, and development, hardware configuration management, IT acquisition management, and testing and operational evaluation of IT equipment and telecommunications networks. Initiate and support research and development of new communication concepts, technologies, and applications for both strategic and tactical FBI environments. Provide monthly updates to Executive Management on progress, challenges, and impact of Communication Services enhancements through briefs, white papers, cost models, and other materials. Oversee continuous technological advancement and innovation in all Communication and IT areas, formulating and defending the information technology budget. Set the FBI technical direction for Communication Services systems, develop technical policy, and manage implementation of technical policies. Provide expert advice and consultation on unusually complex problems related to major programs, including system development, systems design, standardization, and integration of current and next‑generation Communication Services. Competencies Customer Service Information Management Initiative Organizing and Planning Technology Awareness Specialized Experience (SE) GS-15: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-14 grade level. Experience in enterprise engineering, IT management and operations, system integration, hardware and software development, and sustainment sufficient to organize research and development of technical standards and solutions that promote insertion of new communication technologies across the Bureau. Experience with IT theories, principles, concepts, standards and practices sufficient to serve as a senior expert and consultant to top agency management officials to advise on integrating communication systems with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity. Experience with enterprise telecommunication systems, sustaining base and tactical arenas, and related functional activities to consider technical and system architecture, interoperability, interfaces, protocols, networking, expansion potential, end‑to‑end compatibility, standardization, and emerging information technologies into the Enterprise Infrastructure.
