San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) seeks a

Marketing Manager

to lead the planning, execution, and optimization of paid and owned marketing initiatives that support enrollment, advancement, performance attendance, and institutional visibility. This role is responsible for the

hands‑on management of paid media, email marketing, and campaign performance

across digital, social, print, outdoor, and sponsorship channels.

Working in close collaboration with SFCM’s Marketing, Communications, and Advancement teams, the Marketing Manager develops and executes data‑informed campaigns targeting

prospective students, donors, concertgoers, alumni, and community members . The role directly manages advertising platforms including

Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and Google Ads , partners on creative development, and uses analytics and audience insights to drive measurable outcomes such as

applications, conversions, engagement, attendance, and brand awareness , while contributing to the Conservatory’s reputation as a leading cultural institution in the Bay Area and beyond.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities The Marketing Manager is responsible for maintaining and strengthening SFCM’s storytelling efforts, with a primary focus on digital and direct marketing and advertising activities aligned with the Conservatory’s marketing and communications priorities. Responsibilities include:

Develop and execute paid media strategies

targeting prospective students, donors, concertgoers, alumni, and community members. Personally manage media planning, buying, and optimization across digital display, paid search, paid social, print, outdoor advertising, and sponsorships, in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Marketing & Digital. Platforms include - Meta Ads Manager (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok Ads, YouTube, and Google Ads.

Independently place, manage, and optimize paid advertising campaigns,

including audience targeting, budget pacing, creative testing, and performance optimization, with accountability for key KPIs such as applications, conversions, engagement, concert attendance, and brand awareness.

Develop campaign concepts and creative assets for paid and boosted social media campaigns

in collaboration with the Senior Graphic Designer and Associate Director of Digital Content & Social, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, campaign objectives, and platform best practices.

Plan, manage, and execute email marketing campaigns

using Constant Contact to support admissions, advancement, and audience engagement goals. Responsibilities include content development, list building and segmentation, A/B testing, performance analysis, and ongoing optimization to drive applications, conversions, and event attendance.

Conduct internal marketing focus groups

with students, faculty, staff, and other internal communities to gain insights into audience motivations, test messaging and creative approaches, and inform campaign strategy.

Develop and oversee promotional materials —including printed collateral, direct mail, flyers, and other physical assets—in support of marketing, communications, and admissions initiatives, coordinating with the Senior Graphic Designer and external vendors as needed.

Manage online listings and in‑house digital signage , ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent updates.

Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance

across paid media, email, and digital channels; translate insights into data‑informed recommendations to improve results across applications, donations, attendance, engagement, and brand awareness.

Supervise and mentor student workers , as assigned, including task delegation, training, and performance feedback.

Perform additional marketing and communications duties

as assigned to support institutional goals.

Requirements

Proficiency in Meta ads, TikTok, YouTube, and Google Ads

Expertise in marketing and digital advertising strategy

Familiarity with music, education or arts administration preferred

Strong project management, diplomacy and decision‑making skills

Metrics‑driven marketing mindset with an appetite for creativity and new ideas

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Superb organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects

Bachelor’s degree

5‑7 years’ experience in a directly related field preferred
