Position Summary:
A Senior Building Envelope Consultant (Sr. BEC) on our team will be responsible for providing direct communication with clients and project managers along with overseeing and coordinating all design tasks related to ongoing projects. A Sr. BEC will have a strong background in architecture, engineering, or a related field, combined with extensive experience in building envelope systems, waterproofing, and roofing systems. A Sr. BEC will play a crucial role in assessing, analyzing, and providing expert advice on building envelope systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and durability. This position requires excellent technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of industry best practices and regulations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of building envelope systems, including roofing, exterior walls, windows, and doors, to evaluate their condition, performance, and potential issues.
- Provide building envelope and roofing system design on complex projects.
- Perform thorough analyses of building envelope designs, specifications, and construction documents.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations to architects, engineers, contractors, and project teams regarding building envelope design strategies, materials selection, and construction techniques.
- Respond to client care tasks or meetings, RFI requests, and work with marketing team under the direction of the Regional VP and Director of Building Envelope.
- Collaborate with project teams during the design and construction phases to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct on-site inspections and quality assurance reviews.
- Prepare detailed reports, analysis summaries, forensic evaluation, and technical specifications.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in building envelope technologies, industry trends, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Provide expert assistance during the resolution of building envelope-related disputes, including participating in investigations, preparing expert reports, and offering professional opinions.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and educational materials to internal staff and external stakeholders on building envelope systems, maintenance practices, and best practices for maximizing performance and durability.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, industry professionals, manufacturers, and suppliers to stay informed about new products, technologies, and industry developments.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Professional license required (Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, or Registered Roof Consultant)
- Minimum of 15 years of experience working in building envelope consulting, architecture, engineering, or a related field, with a focus on building envelope and roofing design.
- Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, including roofing, waterproofing, insulation, cladding, and fenestration, along with their associated materials, construction techniques, and performance factors.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to building envelope systems, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and customers, clearly and effectively.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in relevant software applications, including Revit, building envelope modeling software, CAD programs, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professional affiliations, certifications, or licenses related to building envelope consulting or architecture (e.g., RCI, LEED, AIA) are desirable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
