Flexographic Press Operator
The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for the efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality packaging materials that meet customer specifications and company standards. This role ensures production schedules are met safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining excellent print quality and minimal waste. Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate flexographic printing presses (e.g., OMET Varyflex VF 670, Webtron, Kidder) according to production requirements and job tickets. Mount plates, mix inks, install anilox rolls, adjust tension, and align web to ensure proper registration and color match. Conduct color and quality checks using densitometer, spectrophotometer, and approved color standards. Verify materials (substrate, ink, dies, plates) against job specifications prior to run. Monitor press speed, registration, impression, and ink viscosity throughout production to ensure consistent print quality. Record production data, waste, downtime, and maintenance in logbooks or ERP system. Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on press and ancillary equipment. Follow 5S and SMED practices to minimize setup time and maximize productivity. Collaborate with Prepress, Quality, and Finishing teams to ensure smooth workflow. Adhere to all safety policies, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and use required PPE. Train or assist in training helpers, apprentices, or junior operators. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of experience operating a flexographic press (wide or narrow web) preferred. Experience in folding cartons, labels, or flexible packaging preferred.
