Kentro is hiring a highly experienced Senior Event Planner & Communications Specialist to support our Defense Intelligence client onsite in Washington, D.C. (JBAB). This dual‑role position is responsible for the end‑to‑end planning, coordination, and execution of major Agency events while also leading communications strategy, messaging, and content development to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful engagement across the organization.

Location: On‑site in Washington, DC.

Salary Range: $175,000–185,000 per year.

Responsibilities Event Planning & Coordination

Coordinate major Agency events, including townhalls, Office All Hands, program‑specific informational sessions, and awards ceremonies.

Plan and host high‑level senior meetings, ensuring all logistical and protocol requirements are met.

Lead event preparation and execution, including scheduling, venue setup, audiovisual support, and catering arrangements.

Organize mentor panels and brown‑bag sessions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Oversee event logistics such as guest registration, security coordination, and onsite support.

Provide strategic input on event design to enhance engagement and impact.

Mentor junior staff involved in event planning and execution.

Communications & Content Development

Develop and implement communication strategies to support Agency events and initiatives.

Draft, edit, and distribute messaging, including announcements, invitations, agendas, newsletters, and briefing materials.

Review and prepare presentation materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with Agency standards.

Manage internal communications channels (email, intranet, bulletins) to ensure timely and effective information flow.

Support leadership communications by drafting talking points, speeches, and remarks for senior executives.

Coordinate post‑event communications, including summaries, highlights, and follow‑up actions.

Advise on branding and messaging consistency across all event‑related materials.

Measure communication effectiveness through feedback, surveys, and analytics, recommending improvements.

Serve as liaison between event teams and communications offices to ensure alignment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 7–10 years of professional experience in event planning and communications, with at least 3 years in a senior‑level role.

Proven track record of managing large‑scale, high‑profile events and communications for government or corporate clients.

Strong knowledge of event logistics, protocol, and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting executive‑level materials.

Ability to work onsite and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and communications tools (e.g., SharePoint, intranet platforms, email distribution systems).

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Professional demeanor and ability to interact with senior executives.

Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Clearance

Must have active TS/SCI clearance and be willing and able to obtain a CI polygraph.
