Technical Illustrator
Our manufacturing client is seeking a Technical Illustrator for a permanent opportunity to develop and maintain product instruction manuals on-site at their western Chicago location. Put your strong attention to detail, effective visual communication, and collaboration skills to use with a well-established company that produces everyday products! Key Responsibilities: Develop and update product instruction manuals for multiple product lines. Plan and sequence manual content for clarity and usability. Create installation and operating instructions using isometric views, insets, and callouts. Manage multilingual manual development using internal and external translation resources. Assemble and evaluate products to ensure manual accuracy and completeness. Partner with Purchasing to evaluate and award print and third-party illustrator contracts. Monitor supplier performance for manual creation, development, and printing. Ensure manuals undergo proper review, approval, and sign-off before printing. Track and manage manual revisions, including archiving and version control. Stay informed on trends and recommend improvements for product manuals. Integrate feedback from business units to enhance manual quality. Prioritize manual creation and revisions to meet production deadlines. Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., product safety commission). Qualifications: Associate degree or higher in Technical Illustration or Technical Communication (Bachelors preferred). 3+ years of experience in technical writing and illustration, including managing product manuals. Strong English writing and communication skills; technical writing proficiency required. Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, and abstract concepts. Skilled in problem-solving, data analysis, and working under strict deadlines. Proficient in: Microsoft Windows & Office Suite 3D CAD software Adobe Creative Suite SolidWorks Composer Change control software and large file transmission tools Detail-oriented with strong information management.
