Position Summary The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care, engages in shared leadership, evidence‑based practice, and relationship‑based care. The role integrates professional practice models and current standards to deliver quality patient care.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and update the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment.
Share information and collaborate with the healthcare team to promote effective patient care.
Verify and implement orders from physicians, PAs, or advanced practice nurses, performing interventions and documenting accurately.
Engage family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan.
Recognize symptoms, set priorities, and respond to patient changes.
Delegate tasks to support personnel in accordance with the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provide feedback.
Advocate for patients, families, and the community.
Integrate theoretical knowledge and evidence‑based research into quality patient care.
Assume Charge Nurse role when assigned.
Collaborate with nurses to provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
Serve as preceptor/resource to nursing staff and students.
Commit to professional growth by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Professional Nurse license in Illinois.
Current BLS/CPR and unit‑specific certifications.
Current ACLS or within 6 months of hire for the main hospital.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in EHR expected.
Excellent attendance and interpersonal skills.
