Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1 years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. A school district in Alexandria, IN, is seeking a qualified Visually Impaired Teacher to provide specialized instruction to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in their academic and developmental progress. Key Responsibilities: Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students with visual impairments. Assess students abilities and needs to develop appropriate educational plans. Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments. Implement assistive technology and adaptive materials to facilitate access to the curriculum. Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records of student achievements and challenges. Participate in meetings and provide training to educators and families on strategies for supporting visually impaired students. Desired Qualifications: Valid certification or licensure to teach students with visual impairments. Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting. Strong knowledge of Braille, mobility training, and assistive technologies for visual impairments. Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.
