Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a federal work study Student Peer Writing Consultant in the Tutoring Services department on the Gainesville campus. The consultant will tutor students in university‑level composition and grammar and assist students, faculty, and staff with services provided by the Gainesville Writing Center.
Responsibilities
- Read student essays and make suggestions for improvement in content development, organization, formatting, style, and grammar/mechanics.
- Explain instructor comments/corrections on students’ assignments.
- Conduct workshops related to composition.
- Assist in the general operation of the Writing Center, including recording session notes.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Effectively present information/work with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Read, analyze, and interpret student compositions, literature, and scholarship.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at UNG in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Word.
