Role Overview Crate and Barrel Designers have a passion for helping customers see what is possible with the latest on‑trend merchandise. They build meaningful and long‑term relationships with their customers, guiding and advising them to furnish an entire room or simply add an accent piece. Designers are up‑to‑date on the latest trends, trained to work with classic to contemporary styles, and use digital tools during in‑store and in‑home consultations to bring customers’ visions to life. A day in the life as a Designer
Drive sales and a differentiated experience by providing enriching customer interactions and elevated design offerings in the store, in‑home and virtually.
Create elevated designs for customers using preferred design tools to build moodboards, 2D & 3D floor plans, product lists and presentations.
Lead design consultations in person (in‑store or in‑home) or via email, phone and virtual.
Deliver projects in a timely manner and within determined timelines.
Possess a clear understanding of the brand aesthetics and merchandising strategy by channel: Store, E‑Commerce, Catalog.
Ensure full understanding and awareness of all product information, including characteristics, care information and stay informed with the competition and industry trends.
Deliver individual sales, KPI and service goals, productivity standards, and engage customers on the sales floor by demonstrating selling skills.
Actively listen to the customer to identify which products will best meet their needs and communicate company loyalty services (e.g., designer rewards, Design Trade Program, credit card).
Support and model excellent service by exhibiting a positive attitude and enthusiasm, ensuring all customers receive gracious, quick, and efficient service.
Support store training and educating on design services, to drive clear understanding of design services and offerings.
Develop new and lasting relationships through networking and clienteling.
What you’ll bring to the table
Understanding of basic design functions: spatial planning, fabric selection, lighting, interior design styles.
Excellent, effective, and timely communication skills and the ability to translate the brand vision and customers’ wants/needs.
Strong affinity for technology (2D and 3D tools, Google suite, video conferencing, iPad) and proficiency in floor planning.
Ability to stay up to date on current design trends.
Proven track record of building long‑lasting relationships with customers.

Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds; heavier merchandise with team assist.
Full‑time roles: Open availability to work flexible hours on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Part‑time roles: Availability to work two or more weekend days (Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday) and at least one weekday or night.
Compensation Minimum Starting Rate:
$21.76 Hourly Up to:
$36.00 Hourly. Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, you may be eligible for bonuses, sales incentives, and long‑term incentives.
