Instructional Designer Associate – Arizona State University Position: Instructional Technologist 2 in the W. P. Carey School of Business – Learning Design and Innovation (LDI) team. Job Family: Instructional Design and Technology. Employment type: Full time.

Job Overview Job Profile Summary: Assesses, designs, implements, and provides instructional design support for one or more units to develop resources and materials to support teaching and learning.

Job Description: The LDI team is looking for an Instructional Designer Associate to assist instructors in designing and developing online courses and course materials using multiple learning management systems and other instructional technologies, applying best practices in teaching and learning.

Schedule Days and Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, occasional weekend on‑call.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, equivalent combination of experience and/or training.

Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology or related field AND one year of experience providing educational technology development services; OR, equivalent combination.

Desired Qualifications

Designing, developing, implementing, revising, and reviewing online courses and course materials in a higher education environment.

Skill in using a variety of industry‑leading technologies and products for development of course content, presentations, web pages, web applications and tutorials.

Online course evaluation and Quality Matters best practices and processes.

Troubleshooting and supporting faculty and staff use of technology.

Working in a higher education environment, interacting and supporting faculty and administration.

Online instructional design for adult learning; principles, practices, and techniques; security/permission methods and standards for course access.

Knowledge of any learning management system, specifically Canvas.

Writing, proofreading and editing instructional materials.

Skill in managing multiple projects.

Essential Functions

Assists LDI instructional designers, faculty, and staff in designing, developing and maintaining engaging, interactive, instructionally sound online course materials.

Provides troubleshooting and technology support for online teaching and learning products used by faculty, students, and staff.

In conjunction with the LDI team, performs quality assurance reviews for online courses.

Implements and supports learning tools (LTIs) within Canvas.

Supports faculty through course content preparation, assignment setup, and integration of learning tools.

Stays current on emerging technologies that have potential value for teaching and learning through team communication, presentations, training sessions, conferences, and publications.

Assists with researching and producing clear documentation and other instructional materials (websites, multimedia, online tutorials) to support faculty learning.

Uses desktop content authoring tools, document creation applications, presentation tools and emerging technologies to develop custom products to meet user needs.

Collaborates with instructional designers, academic technologists, project managers, and others to increase effectiveness and efficiency of course design and development.

Applies accessibility standards and supports course accessibility via document remediation and accessibility checkers.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills, manages multiple projects, maintains realistic schedules, and adjusts priorities when necessary.

Demonstrates strong judgment in determining priorities, focusing on highest‑impact tasks and communicating proactively about shifting timelines.

Salary & Benefits Salary: $45,000.00 USD per year, to be commensurate with education and experience.

Flexible work options: Alternative work schedules (four, 10‑hour workdays; nine‑day, 80‑hour two‑week schedule for exempt employees only; staggered start/stop times). Hybrid work arrangement may require senior level approval (minimum 60% of regular week at primary location).

Location & Funding Campus: Tempe. Funding: No Federal Funding.
