Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time; on‑site with possible hybrid options. Must reside within 100 miles of the UNC Charlotte campus prior to start.
Primary Purpose of Position The Instructional Designer/Technologist I manages instructional innovation projects and course redesign initiatives from initiation through design, development, and implementation. The role focuses on foundational AI across the curriculum initiatives, with a mission to reduce graduation rates and improve student success. The position collaborates with faculty and instructional staff to build instructional design and faculty development projects, including consultancy, content design, curriculum structuring, instructional techniques, and faculty support. The role provides project oversight and coordination across multiple departments and units, engaging faculty, other instructional designers, leadership, and graduate assistants on consulting, design, development, and evaluation of innovation projects.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

Project management, documentation, and reporting
The position requires significant project‑management skills for strategic instructional initiatives, architecture of instructional technology, and pedagogy consulting for learning innovation, including AI, micro‑credentials, and other modern approaches.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional Design & Technology, Learning Design & Technology, Teaching/Learning, or a closely related field.
1–2 years work experience in faculty development, instructional design, or course development.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strong experience with instructional design, course development, and higher‑education instruction; knowledge of ISD methods, online course development, instructional strategies, technologies, media selection/design, needs analysis, learning theory, SOTL, and accessibility standards.
Experience with AI, online learning technologies, adaptive systems, micro‑credentials, educational analytics tools, data dashboards, project‑management tools, vendor configurations, and LTIs.
Experience managing instructional projects with faculty and college collaborations.
Experience with website design/development, event marketing, and media communications for faculty development programs.
Exceptional attention to detail, written and oral communication, confidence leading workshops, training, or consultations, and teamwork.
