Job Summary
Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for a Fire Protection Sprinkler Designer. In this position, you will be responsible for designing layouts using AutoCAD/HydraCAD and creating hydraulic calculations. The role is based in Indiana and focuses on new and retrofit construction projects across industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio-fuel sectors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design and layout Fire Sprinkler systems.
Read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, including all disciplines of construction drawings and specifications.
Write, plan, coordinate, and present to individuals and groups.
Apply mathematical concepts to hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Create fire sprinkler designs with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSprink, and Revit.
Handle BIM modeling and field surveying.
Provide fabrication lists and coordinate between trades.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred or equivalent experience (e.g., Architectural, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management).
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and mathematical aptitude with attention to detail.
Good working knowledge of hydraulic calculations and ability to read and understand blueprints.
Adaptability to a changing environment and ability to handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
Flexibility to travel to client sites as needed.
Reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends if required.
