Overview
Our client is a high‑end custom yacht builder in Wanchese, NC. They build world‑class sportfishing yachts with an in‑house team that handles every aspect of construction, from metalwork to mechanical systems.
Position Description We are seeking a CNC Designer/Programmer/Operator to join the Digital Design & Fabrication team. The role bridges design and fabrication, turning concepts into accurate, production‑ready parts using CAD/CAM software and CNC machinery.
Responsibilities
Create 3D CAD files based on design input from supervisors and managers.
Process and design assemblies using Rhino and/or SolidWorks.
Program and operate CNC machines, including C.R. Onsrud 3‑axis and 5‑axis routers, to produce wood, composite, aluminum, and stainless‑steel parts.
Develop efficient and creative toolpaths to optimize material usage and machine capabilities.
Maintain CNC equipment and follow preventative maintenance schedules.
Collaborate with design and other departments to meet project needs and timelines.
Qualifications
3–5 years of CAD/CAM and CNC machining experience.
Proficiency in Rhino and MasterCAM; SolidWorks a plus.
Experience working with wood, composites, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Strong understanding of 3‑axis and 5‑axis toolpaths and operations.
Strong attention to detail and independent problem‑solving skills.
Ability to read complex design data and work independently.
Boatbuilding and leadership experience is preferred but not required.
