We improve health outcomes for low‑income families through direct services, community‑based partnership and public‑private initiatives that span food & nutrition, health insurance, maternal and child health, sexual & reproductive health, tobacco control and HIV/AIDS.
Program Description The Development and Marketing Department drives our mission by securing resources, building relationships and promoting our initiatives. Core functions include fundraising, grant management, donor engagement, campaign management, marketing & communications, brand management, public relations and partnership development.
Position Summary The
Communications & Events Manager
will design and execute strategies that attract, engage and inspire supporters. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will lead the creation of print and digital materials, donor communications, web content and high‑impact events.
Communications & Marketing
Implement PHS’ communications strategy to build a vibrant public presence, reach new audiences and strengthen brand impact.
Co‑manage the organization’s website, monitoring content, analytics and working with the vendor to troubleshoot and update material.
Produce fact sheets, blog posts, annual reports, newsletters and departmental content.
Collaborate with designers for engaging branded collateral.
Direct marketing campaigns, developing messaging, managing timelines and delivering compelling designs for digital, print and video advertisements.
Support press conferences, public events and media opportunities.
Maintain email marketing strategy, distribution lists and quality across campaigns.
Analyze email metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Events
Plan and manage external & fundraising events, including donor salons, production schedules, content creation and vendor support.
Coordinate external consultants for event materials such as invitations, signage and on‑site video/slides.
Supervise outside vendors for event execution.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Health; Master’s preferred.
3–5 years experience in communications/marketing, preferably within a public‑health or nonprofit setting.
Proven success in integrated communications and donor engagement strategies.
Experience in website management and digital content production.
Strong project‑management skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Desired Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication, copywriting and proofreading.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mailchimp.
Strong understanding of marketing platforms, channels and best practices across social, digital and email.
Highly detail‑oriented, proactive and resourceful with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
Passion for public health, health equity or community‑based work.
Reports To Director of Communications
Direct Reports None, but supervision of consultants, vendors and interns may be required.
