Communications & Public Engagement Officer

Performs highly responsible professional work overseeing citywide communications, public outreach, marketing, and engagement activities for the City of Hallandale Beach. Primary responsibilities include media relations, public information, branding, marketing strategy, digital communications, event support, and community engagement. Ensures that high-quality, timely, and accurate information is shared with residents, businesses, media outlets, and community partners. Requires strong judgment, initiative, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, Graphic Design, Advertising, or related field. Two (2) years’ experience in public relations/public information, experience in government operations preferred, but not required; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
