Event and Marketing Coordinator
Join to apply for the Event and Marketing Coordinator role at Columbus Business First.
This position is 32 hours per week.
Schedule is defined by the hiring manager and candidate, including a minimum of 3 days in the office per week, with the remaining time available to work from home.
Primary Responsibilities Event Coordination (75% of time)
Coordinate all event marketing.
Assist in the execution of the marketing plan for each event, including social media, e‑marketing, print, and web.
Help maintain social media presence.
Work with the team to ensure the marketing plan stays on track.
Assist with all print materials with printer(s).
Oversee and update marketing materials for all events promptly.
Event Registration: track guest list submission and total guest count, assist sponsors and guests with registration.
Oversee program logistics: sponsors, speakers, honorees. Be the main source of communication with honorees.
Execute sponsor benefits, including marketing materials, LinkedIn, and recap materials.
Coordinate tracking and registering honorees, speakers, and sponsors for programs in a timely and accurate manner.
Event Execution: brainstorm with the Events Director on overall event execution for each event.
Assist with all aspects of event prep - name badges, event signage, sponsor material, printed materials, awards, etc.
Lead event load‑in, set‑up, and load‑out for each event.
Long‑term event planning: assist the Events Director in strategic planning of Columbus Business First events, including planning new events and improving existing events.
Assist in the overall design and theme implementation of events.
Maintain shared filing of all event timelines, communications, and planning documents.
Maintain event materials and proofing of event materials.
Assist the Events Director as instructed with planning and logistics as necessary.
Be prepared to assist with any other tasks requested by the Events Director.
Office Administration (25% of time)
Newsroom and newspaper production.
Production report generation and facilitation.
Coordination with newspaper printer as required.
Corporate accounting and sales: act as liaison and assist the corporate accounting team.
Assist with local cash management where required.
Assist with Salesforce account administration where required.
Assist with accounts receivables, collections reporting, and collections.
Assist with invoice administration, reconciliation, and support.
Office administration: manage all general office needs, including equipment service agreements, repairs, and maintenance; serve as liaison with office building management; review and facilitate office supply requisitions and order fulfillment.
Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation. Serve as local HR resource to employees.
Assist in local monthly all‑staff meetings.
General Duties
Communication and teamwork: keep the Events Director aware of workflow and status of scheduled work, work collaboratively and cooperatively with members of all departments, share organizational tools and plans for keeping on schedule.
Professional development: participate in all training offered by ACBJ and the CBF when applicable.
Other: take on any other assignments requested by the management team.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education: College degree preferred.
Experience: 1–3 years preferred.
Specific skills: MS Office Suite, web‑based registration tools, social media, Canva.
Success factors: detail oriented, persistent, focused, self‑starter, creative, problem solver.
Supervisory Responsibilities None.
Working Conditions Attendance at all assigned staff meetings and events. Ability to work on a flexible schedule based on business needs.
Compensation & Benefits Salary: $45,000 to $55,000.
