Job Summary The Department of General Education seeks a Lecturer in First-Year Writing to begin August 1, 2026. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of English Composition courses each semester, engaging in service and professional development activities, and supporting student success.
Responsibilities
Teach four sections of English Composition courses each semester.
Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession, including assisting students in the Writing Center with one‑on‑one tutoring sessions.
Participate in professional development activities focused on pedagogical skills relevant to first‑year general education courses.
Foster student success through classroom instruction and support.
Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in English or related field.
Experience teaching first‑year English students in a face‑to‑face modality.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate (Ph.D.) in English or related field.
Experience teaching in fully online or hybrid modalities.
Experience teaching corequisite learning support.
Salary Compensation commensurate with experience; position contingent on funding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the scholarly field of English and first‑year composition.
Ability to teach English Composition courses effectively.
Physical Requirements Lifting up to 15 lbs. Work normally performed in a typical interior office environment.
