Job Summary The Department of General Education at the University of West Georgia seeks a Lecturer in First‑Year Writing to begin August 1, 2026. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of English Composition courses each semester, engaging in service, and pursuing professional development activities.

Location University Campus: 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Responsibilities

Teach four sections of English Composition courses each semester.

Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession; primarily assist students in the Writing Center with one‑on‑one tutoring sessions.

Pursue professional development activities focused on pedagogical skills for general education courses.

Foster student success.

Serve as a faculty presence on campus as needed.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in English or related field.

Experience teaching first‑year English students in a face‑to‑face modality.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate (Ph.D.) in English or related field.

Experience teaching in fully online or hybrid modalities.

Experience teaching corequisite learning support.

Proposed Salary Salary listed as commensurate with experience. The position is contingent on funding.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of the scholarly field of English, specifically first‑year composition.

Ability to teach English Composition.

Physical Requirements Lifting up to 15 lbs; work normally performed in a typical interior office environment.
