CAD Designer
An established market leader in the distribution of stainless steels and nickel alloys is currently seeking a talented CAD Designer to support sales efforts.
The role requires precise programming, nesting, inventory control, and scheduling of cutting machines including plasma, water jet, saw, and laser. Effective communication with sales, customers, operators, and management regarding schedules and software issues is crucial for success.
Responsibilities
Create accurate flat patterns for laser, water jet, saw, and plasma cutting, accounting for allowable tolerances.
Maintain inventory control and ensure accuracy, utilizing the smallest available rems.
Provide check drawings to operators for quality control after parts are cut.
Communicate daily schedules, problems, and opportunities with relevant teams.
Minimize scrap through effective use of nesting software Sigmanest and demonstrate the ability to learn.
Assist with the month‑end process by updating inventory reports.
Read and understand basic blueprints and drawings.
Essential Skills
3+ years of CAD design experience.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor/SolidWorks.
Understanding of the fundamentals of sheet‑metal layout and design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with inventory control and accurate record maintenance.
Willingness to receive further training in company‑specific software and processes.
Familiarity with Sigmanest for nesting purposes.
Work Environment Work is conducted on the 1st shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The facility is not temperature‑controlled and can be quite cold in the winter, although the office area is warmer. The team currently includes two other CAD designers.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based in Racine, WI. Application deadline: January 5 2026.
Pay and Benefits Pay range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour. Eligible temporary benefits may include:
