Overview Do you want to join a team that’s changing the world? If you have a strong background as a BIM Designer III, Panasonic Energy wants you to help build the world’s largest lithium‑ion battery factory in De Soto, Kansas. This role focuses on revising existing design files, creating new designs from senior feedback, mentoring junior designers, leading design projects, and collaborating across engineering, vendors, and contractors to push battery technology forward.

Summary As part of Panasonic Energy’s expansion, you’ll manage BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam workflows, conduct clash detection, and lay a foundation for future automation and manufacturing excellence.

Responsibilities

Create design files for equipment and identify clashes between manufacturing equipment, process connections, and facility infrastructure.

Prepare designs, layouts, drawings, and bills of material for major maintenance and facility improvement projects.

Federate and manage BIM structural, architectural, and MEP/FP models and CAD drawing files.

Produce 3D models and graphic walk‑throughs with Navisworks.

Assist in designing equipment models for federated BIM models.

Export DWG, NWC, and other formats for collaboration.

Develop conceptual designs for manufacturing/facility equipment and system expansions/upgrades.

Review models, drawings, and details for accuracy and consistency.

Schedule data for BIM models.

Develop CAD/REVIT/BIM templates.

Navigate models for coordination.

Conduct thorough clash detection studies and communicate results quickly.

Execute clash detection and resolve conflicts independently.

Provide input for BIM and CAD department standards.

Contribute to creation and development of department/corporate standards.

Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow designers, encouraging best practices and professional growth.

Present constructability issues and solutions to project stakeholders.

Schedule and facilitate meetings to coordinate issues and keep tasks moving forward.

Present project status updates in meetings to stakeholders.

Develop solid working relationships with engineers, vendors, and contractors.

Communicate BIM Execution Plan and BIM Standards to internal and external partners.

Report progress and issues to the BIM & CAD Manager.

Document observations in a manufacturing facility to support design/construction coordination.

Manage the transmittal process and uphold 6S initiatives.

Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses

Associate’s degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field (minimum 4 years working with BIM models).

Preferred Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.

Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit or AutoCAD.

BIM certification from recognized institutions (e.g., AGC BIM, Autodesk BIM).

Navisworks Certification.

Bluebeam Certification.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience working with BIM models.

Advanced proficiency in developing CAD/REVIT/BIM templates and executing clash detection with independent conflict resolution.

Strong communication skills, with ability to report progress and issues effectively to management and stakeholders.

Experience documenting observations in manufacturing or facility environments.

Proficiency with the transmittal process and contribution to departmental standards.

Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Ability to prioritize activities and support multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Resilient, self‑motivated, and able to work well under pressure.

Working‑level knowledge of the English language.

Alignment to Panasonic’s seven core principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks Manage, Bluebeam) and preferred certifications.

Advanced knowledge of Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Digital Twin technologies.

Experience in manufacturing and/or facilities management.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

Full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit with respirator.
