Social Media Strategist Marketing Department Non-Exempt

JOB DESCRIPTION The Social Media Strategist will support Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen Ministries in managing approximately 10 brands across major social platforms, reaching nearly 60 million followers. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and engaging distribution of content that carries the message of Hope from our ministry. The Social Media Strategist will collaborate closely with content creators, designers, and ministry teams to plan, produce, and publish high‑quality social media content.

This position reports to the Social Media Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop and publish daily and weekly content across all Lakewood Church and Joel Osteen Ministries platforms, ensuring timely delivery of Today’s Word, ministry updates, and service invitations

Write, edit, and refine engaging content for Lakewood Church, Lakewood Young Adults, and Lakewood Youth social media accounts

Plan, structure, and oversee monthly content calendars for Lakewood Young Adults and Youth

Monitor, respond, and engage with online audiences in real time on behalf of the official Lakewood accounts

Collaborate with videographers, editors, and graphic designers to ensure creative assets align with brand standards and ministry messaging

Produce and coordinate Facebook Live streams for all services, including active real‑time comment management

Gather and verify speaker quotes from English and Spanish services and special events when needed for content

Develop and manage live service engagement timelines, ensuring consistent online interaction during broadcasts

Collect, organize, and support analysis of digital performance metrics for reporting and strategy refinement

Steward sensitive and confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment

Perform additional duties as assigned

MINISTERIAL DUTIES As an employee of Lakewood Church, you are a part of an over 60‑year legacy of faith. As a part of the Lakewood team, you are a key part of our mission in taking the hope found in Jesus to the world. This means that as part of your job responsibilities, you are considered a spiritual leader in the Church. You are responsible for communicating the Church’s beliefs and our mission to our congregants, to maintain a lifestyle consistent with the Scriptures, and are required to belong to the Church as part of our faith community. This will also include:

Regular attendance at Church services and classes

Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and

Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church

QUALIFICATIONS

Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core beliefs

Professional communication skills in English and Spanish (bilingual proficiency required)

Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail, tone, and quality

Strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok), trends, and best practices

Experience with content planning tools, scheduling platforms, and basic analytics

Technical proficiency sufficient to manage live streams, comment monitoring tools, and platform‑specific features

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse teams and personalities

Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently

Availability to work service times, nights, weekends, holidays, and ministry events as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Marketing degree or equivalent work experience preferred

Minimum 2 years of experience in social media coordination, content creation, or digital marketing
