Position is in person at the Chamber office in Downtown Gilroy. Summary of Role: The Marketing & Events Coordinator develops and executes the Chamber’s marketing, communications, and event strategies to strengthen brand awareness, engage members, and support the Chamber’s sales cycle. This role creates compelling content, manages digital platforms, coordinates signature events, and collaborates with the Executive Director and Membership Manager to ensure consistent messaging and high-quality member engagement. The Coordinator helps position the Chamber as the leading voice for business in Gilroy and enhances the Chamber’s visibility across the region through thought leadership, storytelling, and event execution. Marketing & Communications Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns through Constant Contact and the text message platform, including newsletters, event promotions, and member communications. Design and produce print and digital materials using Canva or Adobe tools, ensuring consistent brand identity. Maintain and update the Chamber website with timely information. Manage and grow the Chamber’s social media presence - creating original written, photo, and video content that drives engagement. Write and edit clear, compelling copy for press releases, website updates, and marketing materials. Craft messaging, visuals, and campaigns that clearly communicate Chamber benefits, value, history, and organizational expertise to strengthen brand authority and support membership growth. Align marketing content with sales goals by creating targeted materials and campaigns that directly support prospect conversion and member retention. Develop thought-leadership content in collaboration with the Executive Director and Membership Manager - leveraging their expertise, industry insights, and regional trends - to elevate the Chamber’s voice in conversations around economic development, workforce, and the regional business landscape. Partner with leadership to highlight Gilroy’s unique value proposition, economic strengths, and regional influence across newsletters, social media and text campaigns, and branded storytelling.

Events & Programs Plan, coordinate, and execute Chamber events, programs, and activities — including signature events such as the Legislative Summit, Rock the Mock, Candidate Forum, Women in Business Luncheon - and networking events like Mixers, Networking at Noon Lunch, and Ribbon Cuttings Serve as the Staff liaison with event planners on signature events like the Spice of Life Awards Gala and the Business Expo & Car Show Develop event budgets, and monitor revenues and expenditures with the Executive Director. Manage and track the Chamber’s master events calendar, including both Chamber and community events Support lead generation at events by capturing attendee data, highlighting membership benefits, and feeding qualified leads to the Membership Manager for follow-up. Coordinate sponsorship deliverables, ensuring sponsor recognition is accurate, timely, and aligned with commitments outlined in sponsorship agreements. Lead day-of event marketing, including photography, videography, live posting, media coordination, and creation of post-event recaps for newsletters and social channels.

Membership & Community Engagement Collaborate closely with the Membership Manager to communicate member benefits, testimonials, highlight members, and promote new programs. Cultivate relationships with local businesses, media partners, and community stakeholders. Develop marketing funnels, nurture sequences, and content that guide prospects from awareness → interest → engagement → membership. Provide the Membership Manager with marketing collateral, prospect lists, talking points, and lead-nurturing tools that support the sales process. Support the creation of educational and advocacy-based content by gathering data, monitoring industry trends, and translating insights into clear, accessible messaging that strengthens member engagement and regional brand awareness. Research & Reporting Track and evaluate marketing ROI to refine outreach strategies. Analyze and report on campaign performance to inform strategy. Collaborate with the Membership Manager to integrate marketing and events strategies into membership recruitment and retention goals. Attend and assist staff at Chamber events, meetings, fundraisers, and community functions as required. Participate in staff meetings and internal trainings. Support additional organizational projects as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred. 2–4 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, events, or nonprofit administration. Proficiency with Canva (or Adobe Suite), Constant Contact, social media platforms, and website content management. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clear, professional, and engaging messaging. Experience with Zoom, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher) Ability to work professionally with Chamber staff, members, sponsors, city officials, and the public. Reliable transportation required. Required Attributes: Enthusiastic, positive, creative, and solutions – oriented. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines. High attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency. Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving work environment where everyone on the team wears multiple hats. Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build connections and community. Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and cross-functional partners. Passion for supporting the business community and telling powerful stories. Physical Requirements: Able to stand and walk for extended periods. Able to carry up to 25 pounds or more. Able to stand, kneel, squat, and navigate stairs as needed during events. Able to sit at a desk while working on a computer for extended periods.
