Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in the beautiful city of Sarasota, Florida. From our upper floors, you can see the beautiful white sand beaches of Siesta Key, the #1 rated beach in the United States.
Our health care system is rapidly growing. We have recently built an additional hospital in Venice, Florida, have added a new Cancer Institute on our Sarasota campus, and are planning a new hospital location in North Port, Florida. The Music Therapist adheres to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) scope of practice and competencies and applies the therapy process in pediatric and adult sessions, and in collaboration with the inter-professional care team, will design musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve patients psychological, physical, and social health. The Music Therapist will provide music therapy sessions at the bedside inviting clients to interact working towards established goals of care. The music therapist also monitors clients during musical interventions and measures the effectiveness of sessions.
Responsibilities Provide music therapy sessions at the bedside, inviting clients to interact and working toward established goals of care.
Design musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve patients psychological, physical, and social health.
Monitor clients during musical interventions and measure the effectiveness of sessions.
Collaborate with the inter-professional care team to support patient care.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy (Master’s preferred).
Music Therapist- Board Certified (MT-BC) certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapist (CBMT).
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Music Therapy, preferably in an inpatient/acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialty certification such as Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) certificate and/or Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy (HPMT) certificate.
Benefits and Working Conditions This is a day position and will be working at both the Sarasota and Venice Campuses.
Starting pay is $23/hr.
