Rotation Overview

Primary Skills

Assists with a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures under the general supervision of the fluoroscopy operator, encompassing the vascular, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional radiology, and neuroscience service lines. Patient population ranges from infancy through geriatric. Provides a safe and supporting care environment for patients undergoing procedures involving fluoroscopy. Functions in a multipurpose role depending on the needs of the individual patient and operator, in line with MetroHealth System approved policies and procedures and in accordance with specific governing ODH regulations. High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Valid Radiographer License for the State of Ohio. Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Possess ARRT Vascular Interventional or ARRT Cardiac Interventional credentials or obtain one within the 36 months of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or obtain within 1 year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the AHA or obtain within the standard probationary period. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work on‑call hours on a rotating basis to meet the needs of the department. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications

One year of related experience with advanced certification through the ARRT in Vascular Interventional and/or Cardiac Interventional Radiography. Experience in the use of computers and sophisticated diagnostic equipment. Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics, and ability to interpret ECGs. Experience working with a sterile field using sterile technique. Experience operating a C‑arm. Physical Demands

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. Sees in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hears in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250–300 pounds with assistance. Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
