Role Overview The Senior Media Buyer / Planner is responsible for planning, negotiating, buying, and optimizing TV and radio campaigns across national, regional, and local outlets. This role requires a buyer with deep, hands‑on experience managing complex broadcast investments, including program‑length paid programming (long‑form TV and radio) as well as short‑form direct response schedules. This is a fully in‑office role based in Scottsdale, AZ, working closely with the Creative Director and cross‑functional teams to scale lead generation, appointment volume, and brand presence across multiple markets within a regulated financial services environment. This individual will combine media expertise, business acumen, and relationship building to deliver campaigns that resonate with our audiences and drive measurable outcomes.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop comprehensive TV and radio media plans, balancing program‑length paid programming and short‑form advertising to meet lead volume, CPL, CPA, and AUM goals.
Evaluate markets, stations, dayparts, formats, and programs to align placements with target demographics and performance objectives.
Recommend national, regional, and local buying strategies supported by historical data, market performance, and growth priorities.
Partner with Marketing and Creative teams in‑office to align media strategy with messaging, offers, and campaign objectives.
Buying & Negotiation
Negotiate and execute multi‑market TV and radio buys, including fixed placements, ROS schedules, and performance‑driven inventory.
Source, manage, and optimize program‑length paid programming such as half‑hour television programs and radio shows.
Build strong working relationships with station groups, networks, syndicators, and media vendors.
Manage contracts, insertion orders, make‑goods, and buying documentation with precision.
Performance Optimization & Analytics
Monitor campaign performance at the station, program, daypart, and creative level; make proactive adjustments.
Work with Analytics and CRM teams to connect broadcast performance to calls, appointments, and client outcomes.
Produce weekly, monthly, and post‑buy performance reports with clear insights.
Test and scale new stations, programs, and markets using disciplined benchmarks.
Operations & Collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Creative Director on budgets, pacing, and growth initiatives.
Coordinate with Creative, Marketing, Advisors, and Compliance teams to ensure accurate and compliant advertising.
Oversee trafficking, scheduling, creative delivery, and documentation for all TV and radio placements.
Qualifications Required
A minimum of 6‑8 years of experience in media planning, buying, and strategy, with a proven track record of successful national campaigns across multiple channels.
Strong expertise in integrated marketing, including TV, radio, digital, social media, mobile, and print.
Exceptional multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and team members in a fast‑paced environment.
Outstanding organizational skills and self‑motivation, with strong attention to detail.
Ability to analyze data to inform media decisions and optimize campaigns for maximum impact.
Experience leading and mentoring direct reports, with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong negotiation skills for managing vendor relationships and securing advantageous terms.
Familiarity with business objectives and the ability to align media strategies to meet those goals effectively.
Comfortable working with senior leadership and presenting strategies and outcomes.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
Experience in media‑related roles within the financial services industry.
Familiarity with Creatio, Salesforce, Pardot, or similar CRM platforms.
Proficiency in project management tools and processes.
