Communication Strategist (Water Business Group)

Join HDR as a Communication Strategist focused on our Water Business Group. You will help shape community water management, support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content marketing strategies and communication plans for specific initiatives and projects to elevate thought leadership.
  • Lead global and local communication strategies by collaborating with internal partners and creative, marketing and communications teams.
  • Assist in the development and management of an editorial calendar.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop and write white papers, feature articles, thought leadership pieces, and social media posts.
  • Ghost write and edit blogs, social media posts, papers, and presentations for subject matter experts.
  • Help develop collateral pieces and marketing campaign materials.
  • Research, write, and edit project narratives and case studies.
  • Monitor industry best practices and maintain a repository of trends and examples.
  • Support event management as required.
  • Bring genuine, creative ideas to the table.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related field.
  • Previous consulting and/or creative agency experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications: social media, event planning, community engagement, target marketing, written communication, public involvement, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently with multiple teams as well as in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with a positive outlook and attitude.
  • High aptitude for managing and solving tactical issues.
  • Commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
  • Comfortable and competent working with senior leaders and managing cross‑functional efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate strategically and tactically in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment.
  • Committed to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
