Communications Specialist (WRITER EDITOR 3)

Under general direction of the Wraparound Center of Excellence (COE) Program Director, the Communications Specialist will manage external communications for the Wraparound COE program at UC Davis CPE Human Services, including written, visual and digital communications. The role collaborates with the UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education Strategic Communications manager and Human Services marketing and program staff. Key duties include writing blog articles and web content, editing program curriculum materials, graphic and publication design, video editing, photography, managing the Wraparound COE program website, developing email campaigns, social media and event communication strategies, producing content marketing that builds connection and credibility, maintaining the Human Services website content, designing marketing materials with Canva, ensuring ADA accessibility, and coordinating short‑form video production.

Salary: $69,600 – $124,200 per year

  • 25% – Design
  • 5% – Planning and Strategic Communication

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage external communications strategy and content across channels
  • Update and edit the Human Services website using CMS
  • Design marketing materials (fliers, factsheets, posters, infographics, videos, slides) using Canva and other design tools, ensuring ADA accessibility
  • Plan and execute email campaigns, social media posts, event communications
  • Produce short‑form videos featuring program profiles and success stories

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience writing engaging copy that reflects marketing goals and audience needs
  • Proven ability to manage high‑volume communications environment, meeting critical deadlines and coordinating multiple assignments
  • Creative experience producing effective graphics, fliers, publications and other marketing materials
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation and AP Style
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or human services
  • Experience with web design using a CMS such as Drupal
  • Experience using Salesforce and/or Marketing Cloud
  • Advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation and AP Style
