Position Summary
The Policy Insights Lab at the University of North Carolina is seeking a part‑time (approximately 2–10 hours per week) graphic designer to support visual design needs for ongoing behavioral and clinical public health research studies. The role will begin in January and will last through approximately June 2026, with the opportunity for re‑hire. The graphic designer will develop study‑related visuals and collaborate with research staff to update materials as needed. This position can be remote if preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design recruitment materials, experimental study stimuli, logos, websites, social media graphics, PowerPoint presentations, and other project‑related visuals.
- Create clear and engaging visual assets for participant‑facing materials.
- Revise and adapt existing design templates for use across multiple research studies.
- Work collaboratively with investigators, project managers, and research assistants to ensure all materials meet IRB, accessibility, and branding guidelines.
- Maintain organized files and documentation of design versions and project workflows.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Demonstrated competencies to perform the necessary tasks is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or comparable design tools (e.g., Figma, Canva Pro).
- Experience designing materials for public‑facing or research‑oriented contexts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accessibility and readability standards.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple small projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Comfort incorporating feedback from diverse team members and iterating on drafts.
- Course work in graphic design, visual communication, or related field.
