Working collaboratively across Resource Management & Discovery Services (RMADS), acquisitions, metadata, administrative budgeting, and subject librarians, the Serials Librarian ensures that serials collections support the teaching and research needs of the University.

The Serials Librarian supervises, trains, and mentors four full-time staff, fostering a cooperative and innovative working environment. The position maintains effective relationships with vendors and publishers, provides training on relevant library and vendor systems, and implements policies and procedures that support effective lifecycle management of serials in all formats.
  • The Serials Librarian collaborates with local and statewide partners—including Medical, Law, and Music Libraries and FLVC—to support a shared catalog and systemwide initiatives. Additional responsibilities include supporting metadata for continuing resources, managing title lists and cost data, resolving access or record issues, and preparing statistical and budget reports.
  • As faculty, the Serials Librarian participates in library committees and initiatives, stays current with developments in serials librarianship through continuing education and professional engagement, and contributes to the profession through service, research, and scholarly activities.
