$30.55 position (SC8LWESP) is eligible for membership in the Lake Washington Education Support Professionals.
Instructional Assistant Hourly Rate
$25.54/hour position (SC11 Salary Schedule) is eligible for membership in the Service International Employees Union No. 925
Office Professional Job Summary
All general administrative support positions are expected to perform common office procedures such as answering phones; providing information and customer service to students, employees and/or the community; word processing or data entry; and maintaining records while maintaining confidentiality. Although certain recurring tasks or responsibilities may be assigned to certain individuals within an office with multiple support positions, all employees in these positions are expected to contribute to keeping the office functioning effectively and efficiently.
Instructional Assistant Job Summary
Assists teaching staff by completing instructional tasks and maintaining an orderly classroom to provide a positive learning environment. May be assigned to classroom, lunchroom, library, before or after school academic programs, or office. At elementary level, assignment includes crossing guard and playground duties. May be assigned to an individual student or work with entire classroom.
Library Specific Description
In support of the teacher-librarian's vision for the library, the Library Office Professional & Instructional Assistant supports the daily operation of the school library by helping create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students. This role involves frequent and positive interactions with students, including assisting them in selecting books aligned to their interests and reading levels. Knowledge of Young Adult (YA) books or willingness to read YA books is helpful. The Library Office Professional & Instructional Assistant contributes to the high functioning of the library by supporting circulation procedures, maintaining the organization and orderliness of the physical space and book collection, and ensuring the library remains an accessible and inviting environment that promotes a love of reading and learning.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Must hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR have completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR have passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher, OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire.
- Must pass criminal background check.
