Overview
As supervisor of media relations, you will be responsible for working with teams across Antenna’s Climate practice to create and implement media relations strategy and programs, increasing Antenna clients’ visibility with media across top-tier, trade, local and broadcast outlets. You will be primary point of contact on media strategy for a core group of assigned clients, alongside serving as a practice-wide resource to advise on best practices for pitching, media list building, spokesperson media training and other aspects of media relations.
In addition, this role will work with the other members of the climate media team to formulate, manage and execute practice-wide pitch initiatives tied to rapid response, key conferences/events and timely industry and mainstream milestones.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in media relations, communications strategy or other relevant disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to secure high-quality features and maintain strong relationships across relevant top-tier, trade, local and broadcast media outlets.
- Highly developed pitch writing and verbal communications skills.
- Highly developed client communications and client relationship management skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and lead media strategy for a core set of assigned Climate practice clients, executing campaigns for company announcements in addition to formulating strategy and executing campaigns for proactive outreach including executive thought leadership, rapid response/industry commentary, opportunistic pitching around conferences and media tours.
- Serve as primary point of contact on media relations for a core set of assigned Climate practice clients, regularly communicating around high-level media strategy, achievement of long-term media goals and status of ongoing media opportunities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists across top-tier, trade, local and broadcast outlets, gathering actionable insights and intelligence on coverage plans and opportunities relevant across all Climate practice clients.
- Collaborate with other members of the Climate media team to formulate and execute practice-wide media initiatives for rapid response, key conferences/events and timely news hooks.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with junior team members to cultivate and implement best practices for pitch writing, media list development, briefing page development and other key aspects of media relations.
- Work with teams across the Climate practice to standardize and strengthen media training sessions.
- Lend media relations expertise to development of new business pitches, and join new business pitch teams to present proposed media relations programs.
- Maintain availability to assist in media relations activity across the Climate practice on an ad-hoc basis.
Salary
$80,000 - $100,000
