Position Summary
The Social Media Coordinator oversees the execution of marketing strategy across the digital ecosystem and manages the University of Georgia’s digital presence across channels. The incumbent coordinates day‑to‑day tasks, updates content, assists with the social media content calendar, drafts social posts, and implements campaigns across various digital platforms. The role requires staying current on social media marketing best practices, demonstrating creativity, strong writing and proofreading skills, and the ability to build and convert a digital audience both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, create, post, and monitor social media under the guidance of the Senior Social Media Content Strategist.
- Communicate with users and followers, respond to queries promptly, and monitor engagement and user experience.
- Apply and maintain institutional brand and communications guidelines to social media accounts.
- Suggest and implement new features to increase user and audience engagement.
- Stay up to date with platform tools, technologies, and design trends.
- Review monthly campaign reports, provide strategic recommendations, and articulate the value of analytics data to key constituents.
- Assist with the monthly social media calendar creation and daily posting for each channel.
- Provide social media coverage of campus events and storytelling opportunities.
- Act as backup to the Senior Social Media Content Strategist and engage leadership regarding pending issues.
- Participate in social media duties during emergency communications situations.
- Assist with the Digital Dawgs student ambassadors’ program through recruiting, training, and mentoring.
- Collaborate with creative counterparts, marketing, media relations, and content teams to produce social media and digital advertising content.
- Provide consultation and guidance on social media best practices and training on tools across campus.
- Manage projects through divisional PM software, status reporting, and milestone management to ensure timely delivery.
- Proofread content for clarity, grammar, and spelling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 1–2 years of social media experience preferred.
