Position Type: Institutional Employment. Position Status: Part‑time. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt – Eligible for Overtime. Pay Rate: Per Edition. Opening Date: Dec 12 2025. Closing Date: Jan 30 2026. Department: 900100 - Breeze Payroll. Eligible Candidates: Graduate or undergraduate students seeking a degree and enrolled on at least a half‑time basis (6 credits undergraduate, 5 credits graduate).

Location: Harrisonburg, Virginia – a diverse community approximately 120 miles from Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA.

Role Overview: The Breeze will hire its Breeze TV News Director. The selected student will manage a weekly broadcast news show that airs live. The News Director will serve as the senior leader for Breeze TV and will begin training in March with the position starting April 1. Candidates must be able to return to campus two weeks prior to the start of the fall semester.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the staff in creating a 30‑minute news show each week.
  • Guide reporters in producing stories for the weekly show and the online news site.
  • Oversee production and editorial staff.
  • Make editorial and coverage decisions.
  • Lead the staff in upholding journalistic ethics and standards.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have served on Breeze TV for at least one semester.
  • Ability to lead a team toward a common goal.
  • Writing, editing, broadcasting, and management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree‑seeking and enrolled at least on a half‑time basis (6 credits for undergraduates, 5 credits for graduate students).
