Summary of Job Duties: The Communications & Public Relations Coordinator plays an essential role in expanding the reach and impact of the National Agricultural Law Center, a unit of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (UADA). This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication initiatives that enhance the National Agricultural Law Center’s visibility, reputation, and engagement with the nation’s agricultural community. This communicator will be responsible for development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic communications plan. This role supports external communication efforts such as media relations, digital content, newsletters, and website maintenance, and works closely with leadership to advance strategic goals. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive communicator with strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and experience in modern outreach tools.
- Write, publish, and promote news and feature stories about upcoming NALC events and relevant agricultural and food legal developments.
- Make personalized pitches to members of the media to expand the reach of NALC news releases.
- Build contact lists of relevant stakeholders and develop strategies to engage new users of NALC resources.
- Oversee organic and paid social media content creation and scheduling across multiple platforms.
- Design clear and effective graphics for use on social media and to support other NALC publicity and marketing efforts.
- Coordinate NALC’s monthly webinar series.
- Manage multiple email newsletters for NALC and proactively implement strategies to increase the number of contacts on newsletter email lists.
- Work in close collaboration with the UADA Communications team and the UADA Chief Communications Officer to develop, refine, and amplify communications content for maximum reach and impact.
- Assist with the creation of short, simple audio and video content for social media.
- Organize and maintain digital photo assets and photo equipment.
- Assist NALC staff with updates to the NALC website, as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate for the assigned function
- Experience in communications, including social media.
- Experience collaborating with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience writing and editing news and social media content, preferably with a focus on journalistic writing.
- Experience using email marketing tools.
- Basic familiarity with metrics used to evaluate the success of communications work.
- Experience with basic DSLR photography and/or videography a plus.
- Knowledge of CMS tools (WordPress preferred)
- Appreciation for the agricultural and food industries
