Position Summary
The Business Strategist’s primary responsibility at Jewelry Television® (JTV) is to lead the Strategy team’s mandate to provide timely, insightful, and actionable, high‑level data‑driven recommendations that directly support company growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years at a consulting firm such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or 5+ years of retail corporate strategy experience. They will synthesize information and market intelligence into compelling narratives and strategic recommendations that directly inform executive‑level decision‑making across Planning, Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations. The role focuses on identifying business opportunities, strategic thinking, problem solving, and business performance optimization.
Scope and Impact
Although the position is in Strategy, it requires frequent cross‑functional interaction with C‑level and EVP/SVP senior executives in Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Broadcast Planning, Supply Chain, and IT. Strategic recommendations and business cases will drive the company’s overall planning, direction, and capital deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Opportunity Identification
- Lead strategic analysis to identify major growth and profit improvement opportunities across Broadcast, E‑commerce, and Retail.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on key retail performance indicators (sell‑through, inventory turnover, margin, basket size, CLTV).
- Lead root‑cause analysis on shifts in business performance and propose comprehensive solutions.
- Conduct research on internal capabilities and external environments, providing detailed business and competitive intelligence.
- Drive investigative analysis using a hypothesis‑driven approach to vet strategic investment opportunities.
- Mine corporate data to support strategic plans related to customers, merchandising categories, capital productivity, marketing, and operational performance.
- Financial Planning and Business Case Development – lead development of comprehensive business cases for all strategic initiatives.
- Identify drivers of financial performance for specific initiatives.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks; translate findings back into actionable strategic plans.
- Conduct advanced ad hoc and pro‑forma analyses to support critical decisions.
- Measurement, Visualization, and Executive Reporting – oversee design of measurement systems for pilots and strategic tests.
- Structure and present complex analytical findings to C‑level and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Direct creation of dashboards and reports using Tableau or Power BI.
- Track results against key drivers and incorporate measurements into the operating plan.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- 2+ years at a consulting firm such as McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or 5+ years in Retail, E‑commerce, or Media strategy roles.
- Experience supporting Retail, E‑commerce, or Media organizations preferred.
