Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Executive Producer is responsible for the development and management of all assigned project portfolio related aesthetic, show, guest‑experience elements, and master planning. The role works in partnership with the Park Portfolio Team and the Creative Studio to define and ensure compliance with Creative goals and Portfolio objectives; it informs and advises Senior Management on Portfolio/Project status and issues. The position acts as the Creative Lead on assigned projects, supervising any assigned staff and workloads, and determines strategies to ensure the successful completion of all tasks through all aspects of design and production from original concept through final installation. The Assistant Director, Executive Producer also ensures conformance with any and all third‑party Intellectual Properties from a creative standpoint.

Major Responsibilities

  • Establish and articulate the Portfolio/Project Creative direction in all guest areas, partnering with the leadership team to develop, review, and manage master plans, scopes, contract documents, cost estimates, schedules, strategies, and work plans to achieve the portfolio or project’s business objectives and creative intent.
  • Ensure guest‑experience and creative design intent is properly conceived, developed, articulated, and documented; manage and interface with appropriate internal and external resources throughout every phase of design, production, and installation to maintain Creative Intent Documentation and align with project standards.
  • Develop and manage work plans, estimates, schedules, and tasks for all creative design and art direction activities; ensure appropriate design and specialist resources are assigned as needed.
  • Create strategic sourcing and staffing plans to support show development and production; make employment decisions, evaluate personnel, negotiate and procure outside resources, and ensure staffing is contracted and approved within budgets and schedules.
  • Communicate and present Project concept and design intent to a variety of audiences throughout the Project process.
  • Obtain creative approvals from third‑party licensors to ensure design direction conforms to brand standards.
  • Manage and report on design and production budgets and schedules.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per UO policy and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Strong design, production, and management portfolio. Knowledge of design management, work planning, budgeting, scheduling, bid package preparation, and vendor relationships. Familiarity with theme park technologies, ride, A/V, robotics, engineering, and show systems. Expertise in theme park architectural, project management, organizational, and construction practices. Demonstrated ability to lead creative and technical teams on complex attraction projects. Team‑oriented, promotes staff development, independent decision‑maker, high aesthetic sensibility and storytelling skills, excellent communication, positive can‑do attitude, and problem‑solving under pressure. Travel may be required depending on project needs. Requires collaboration with internal and external partners.

SCOPE

Non‑routine; general policies applied to frequently changing situations. Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact, diplomacy, and maturity.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Arts, Theme Park Design, or related field required.

EXPERIENCE

15+ years in theme park design and design management preferred. 12–15 years in theatrical, theme park, or related media design/production field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience as a Sr. Show Producer on at least three theme park attraction projects from design through installation.
