Job Description The City & County of San Francisco’s Emmy‑Award winning television station, SFGovTV, seeks a creative and dynamic Media Producer / Video Editor. SFGovTV and its sister channels provide citizens with quality government programming and original content across television, web, YouTube, and social media.
Essential Duties
Support coverage of public meetings using broadcast and virtual meeting technology.
Perform production and post‑production video editing for SFGovTV programming using Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or similar NLE.
Determine the best storytelling approach through editing while collaborating with producers or serving independently as a producer.
Maintain an archive of master clips and b‑roll.
Design graphics for video deliverables using Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects.
Develop video programs for television, website, social media, and YouTube in alignment with station regulations.
Create scripts, coordinate production logistics, direct on‑camera talent, and operate video production equipment for recordings and live transmissions of original programs and city government meetings.
Develop and maintain social media content to engage constituents and increase viewership.
Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
Four (4) years of broadcast production experience.
Valid California driver’s license.
A certificate from a recognized media production program may substitute for one (1) year of required experience, or a baccalaureate degree in broadcasting, graphic design, or a related field may substitute for two (2) years.
Desirable Qualifications Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio and video equipment (studio, ENG, robotic cameras, mixers, light and grip gear), manage files, format and update on‑air material, shoot digital still photos, communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and establish cooperative working relationships with city staff and programming sources.
Additional Information
Appointment Type: Temporary Exempt (TEX) – up to 36 months, no permanent civil service hiring.
Work Location: SFGoTV / Department of Technology, City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, SF, CA 94102 (may require work at other city sites).
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, travel within San Francisco may be required.
