Job Description SFGovTV, San Francisco’s Government Television station, is looking for a creative and dynamic Media Producer / Video Editor. SFGovTV and SFGovTV2 provide the citizens of San Francisco access to quality government programming. The role involves producing and editing original content for television, web, YouTube, and social media to highlight city events, services, and culture.
Essential Duties
Supports coverage of public meetings using broadcast and virtual meeting technology.
Performs production and post‑production video editing for SFGovTV programming, using Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or comparable NLE.
Determines the best way to convey a message or tell a story through editing while working with a producer or serving as your own producer.
Maintains an archive of master clips and b‑roll selections.
Designs graphics for video deliverables utilizing Adobe Photoshop and/or After Effects.
Develops video programs for television, website, social media, and YouTube in alignment with station regulations.
Creates scripts, produces, coordinates production logistics, directs on‑camera talent and crew, and operates video production equipment for the recording and/or live transmission of original programs and city government meetings and events.
Develops and maintains social media content to engage constituents and increase viewership.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Four (4) years of broadcast production experience.
Valid California Driver’s license.
A certificate from a recognized media production program may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience, or a baccalaureate degree in broadcasting, graphic design, or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
Desirable Qualifications Ability to set‑up, operate and troubleshoot audio and video equipment, including professional studio ENG cameras, light and grip equipment, and video editing applications. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and establish cooperative relationships with city staff and programming sources.
Additional Information Appointment Type:
Temporary Exempt (TEX). Full‑time position is excluded from the competitive civil service examination process. The anticipated duration is up to 36 months and will not result in an eligible list or permanent hiring.
Work Location:
SFGovTV / Department of Technology, City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, SF, CA 94102. Incumbent may be required to work at other sites throughout San Francisco as necessary.
Work Schedule:
40 hours per week. Travel within San Francisco may be required.
