Responsibilities and Duties

Duties Description Communications Manager to support external communications for the Assembly Member, with support, partnership, and oversight provided by the Chief of Staff. This position will serve as a communication bridge between the Assembly Member’s office, the press, and audiences that include the residents of District and New York State. The ideal candidate understands the progressive values held by the Assembly Member and will be able to synthesize complex policy issues into clear and persuasive narratives with close attention to accuracy and nuance. This individual will report to the Chief of Staff. Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of, social justice causes important to the Assembly Member, including reproductive justice, immigrant rights, LGBTQ liberation, climate justice, and health equity Excellent writing and copy-editing skills for content and adaptability for both digital and print platforms Strong time management skills with an eye towards efficiency and efficacy Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks and issues Collaborative team player who takes and gives feedback constructively Ability to develop, nurture, and manage professional, respectful, and positive working relationships in a small but dynamic work environment Ability to work with basic computer applications, Google platforms, and Canva Ability to work in the office and travel within the district and around New York City to staff the Assembly Member, may need to travel to Albany on limited occasions (transportation and lodging covered by the Assembly Member) Speaking and/or writing knowledge of Spanish, Bangla, or Arabic is a plus Compensation and Benefits

$57,000 in annual salary for 40 hours a week Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) Retirement benefits, including participation in the New York State pension system Paid time off, including vacation, personal time, sick leave, and state holidays Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
