Industrial Expeditor
Location: Houston, Texas
Contract: 12 months (could extend)
Pay: $55 to $60 hr.
Travel: 50% or more
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Expediting – Expedite purchase orders to ensure materials and equipment meet contractual delivery dates.
Review vendor schedules, fabrication plans, and manufacturing progress.
Conduct regular follow-ups with vendors to verify status, identify risks, and resolve issues.
Confirm compliance with technical specifications, drawings, and QA/QC requirements.
EPC Coordination – Identify potential material or fabrication delays and escape issues with mitigation plans.
Support construction sequencing by aligning material deliveries with project schedules.
Participate in project kickoff meetings and vendor coordination meetings.
Perform on-site expediting visits at vendor and fabrication shops.
Verify fabrication progress, inspection readiness, and documentation completeness.
Coordinate with third-party inspectors and witness critical inspections as required.
Coordinate with logistics teams on shipping dates, transport modes, and delivery schedules.
Review and track material test reports (MTRs), inspection reports, packing lists, and shipping documents.
Maintain accurate expediting logs, progress reports, and dashboards.
Ensure materials are delivered in accordance with project priorities and site requirements.
Provide regular expediting status reports to project management.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5-10 years of experience as an Expeditor in industrial EPC construction environments.
Strong experience with:
Heavy industrial projects (energy, power, data centers, manufacturing, oil & gas, or similar)
Fabrication shops and long-lead equipment
EPC project execution and procurement workflows
Proven ability to travel greater than 50% of the time, including short notice and extended trips
Strong understanding of:
Purchase orders, contracts, and technical specifications
Fabrication processes, inspections, and quality requirements
Construction sequencing and schedule impacts
Ability to identify risks early and drive solutions independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP or procurement systems preferred
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
