AM Logistics Group is hiring: Import Customs Entry Writer in Plainfield

Job Duties
Entry Preparation & Submission:

• Prepare and submit customs entries to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) using Automated Broker Interface (ABI) software.
• Review and verify all import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other required import permits.
• Accurately classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and determine correct valuation and country of origin.

Compliance and Communication:

• Ensure all entries are compliant with CBP regulations and other Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA).
• Communicate with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to resolve any documentation discrepancies or missing information.
• Collaborate with the Licensed Customs Broker to address complex issues, holds, or rejections from CBP.

Data Management & Administration:

• Maintain organized and compliant electronic and physical files for all import entries.
• Monitor the status of shipments and entries, providing timely updates to clients and internal teams.
• Assist in the billing process for customs clearance services and disbursements.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Import Entry Writer or in a related customs brokerage role.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. customs regulations, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and other government agency requirements.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with customs brokerage software (e.g., ABI systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
