FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders in Reno, NV. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days of assignment (most common type takes 5‑6 minutes).
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Make extended driving trips with numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county (urban or rural) you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. There is no set minimum; the work is consistent month‑to‑month. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided above the flat fee per inspection.
