Requirements (to be considered you must have the following)
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus – you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county you may complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection is not provided.
Other Information Contracting is county‑based; you may share a county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
