FAR INSPECTIONS, West Chester, South Carolina, United States
Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to conduct inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. We contract with inspectors at a county level; you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county, and may split the county with another inspector if volume allows.
Responsibilities
Typical inspection should only take 5–6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Be able to spend extended periods driving while making multiple stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour.
Depending on county and urban/rural status, you may complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month.
Earning potential increases as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
