About the Role FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn a predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to conduct inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify occupancy, report on general condition using a mobile application, and, in a small percentage of cases, obtain interior photos after vacancy.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections typically 5–6 minutes each.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Submit a short form in the mobile app.
Drive extended periods, making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you pay for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume. Equivalent pay ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. Depending on county, you may complete between 20 and 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. No set number of inspections per month, but work is consistent month‑to‑month.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
