FAR INSPECTIONS
About FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to:
Verify property occupancy.
Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant. We contract with inspectors at a county level. Inspectors are responsible for completing all inspections in their county and may split a county with another inspector when there is enough volume.
Responsibilities
Most inspections should only take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9 or more photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good fuel economy is a plus as you pay for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, while higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the volume is consistent month-to-month.
Earn more as you become established, are available for more inspections or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
