Work Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $43.11/hr

Responsibilities

Inspects and diagnoses problems in marine engines, pumps, compressors, winches, cranes, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, and other onboard mechanical systems.

Performs routine maintenance like oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.

Repairs or replaces faulty parts such as gears, valves, seals, and bearings.

Installs new mechanical equipment on ships or at marine facilities.

Modifies or upgrades existing systems to meet new performance or safety standards.

Uses diagnostic tools and technical manuals to pinpoint problems in complex systems.

Tests repaired systems to ensure they operate correctly under load and environmental conditions.

Ensures that all machinery complies with maritime safety and environmental regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL).

Keeps records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs for audits or inspections.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree required.

Minimum of 3 years’ related experience.

Certification or training from maritime institutions preferred.

Knowledge of marine systems and regulations.

Practical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and attachments.

Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.

Safety awareness, especially in confined spaces and hazardous environments.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.

Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking, standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs.

Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Additional Requirements

A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
