Mechanic, Crane A ensures the safe operation of cranes by conducting thorough inspections, maintenance, and repairs. This involves identifying potential hazards, assessing mechanical and electrical components, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Typical Duties
Visually inspect crane components (e.g., hoists, chains, wire ropes, structural parts) and conduct operational tests (lifting, lowering, emergency stops).
Perform load tests to verify the crane's capacity to handle loads safely.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
Ensure all inspections and operations adhere to safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ASME) and company standards.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Qualifications
HS/GED and 5-8 years of experience operating cranes; equivalent combination of experience and education allowed.
Specialized crane maintenance courses or certifications desired.
Experience as a mechanic, with specific experience in crane operation and repair highly desirable.
Crane inspector certification is often required or preferred; proficiency in crane inspection techniques and safety standards required.
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours based on position duties.
May require climbing in and out of a vehicle and ascending/descending stairs.
Must persevere to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Requirements
A valid state driver’s license is required and must be maintained with Tessera’s insurance.
